Notice on Graduation Practice and Graduation Dissertation (Design) during Epidemic Prevention and Control Period

Schools:

In order to carry out the requirements of Guidelines for Organization and Management of Online Teaching in Colleges and Universities during the Period of Epidemic Prevention and Control (JGT (2020) No. 2) by and from Ministry of Education and Notice on Teaching Work in Colleges and Universities during the Period of Epidemic Prevention and Control by and from Hubei Provincial Department of Education, in combination with the actual condition of CUG, the notice on graduation practice and graduation dissertation (design) during the period of epidemic prevention and control period is hereby given as follows:

I. Graduation practice

1. Reasonably adjust the practice arrangement and actively respond to the impact of the epidemic. During the suspension period of the offline graduation practice, each school shall reasonably adjust the time, contents and modes of graduation practice based on meeting the requirements of the practice outlines according to the characteristics of the majors and ten implement it after submittal to Dean’s Office for record. After returning to the campus, each school can organize the graduation practice by itself.

2. Fully excavate practice resources and explore online practice mode. In the permissible range of epidemic prevention and control requirements, each school shall fully excavate and integrate existing practice resources, and carry out practice work through online practice. Once the online practice meets the cultivation requirements, the student can apply for graduation practice credits. After the end of the practice, relevant information about online practice process shall be provided.

3. Do well in offline practice plan and strengthen the preparation for offline practice. Each school shall make a good plan for the graduation practice after the terms formally begins. During the epidemic prevention and control period, each school shall organize the students to complete the practice safety education, practice literature search, data preparation and so on, and guide the students to prepare for the offline practice. After the return to the campus, if the school confirms that the graduation practice cannot be accomplished due to the impact of the epidemic, the practice hours can be shortened or even the practice credits and be deduced.

II. Graduation dissertation (design) work

1. Make full use of Internet and strengthen remote guidance. According to the original graduation dissertation (design) work plan, before the student returns to the campus, each school can adopt WeChat, QQ, e-mail and other tools to guide the students, organize regular video conferences, and make corresponding records, so as to ensure the graduation dissertation (design) work in an orderly way.

2. Focus on the cultivation objectives and adopt the alternative scheme. In case that experiment or field survey or practice is required for the graduation dissertation (design), each school and the instructor can reselect the topics or change the contents in line with talents cultivation objectives of the specialty and quality assurance according to the situation of epidemic prevention and control. The alternative scheme for the graduation dissertation (design) adopted by each school shall collect the opinions of the backbone teachers widely, be submitted to the School Council (online) for approval and then submitted to Dean’s Office (Practice Teaching Section) for record.

3. Strengthen the quality control and accomplish the work on schedule. The undergraduate (2020) dissertation (design) is subject to the duplicate check before oral defense. Only when the duplicate check rate is qualified, can the oral defense be carried out. In case of failure to attendance of the onsite oral defense due to the epidemic, each school shall make an alternative plan such as online oral defense. If the epidemic is dissolved and conditions permit, each school can arrange the onsite oral defense. In case of adjustment of materials submittal and oral defense date, timely notification will be made according to the changes in the epidemic situation and the requirements of the higher authorities.
