Good News: First Prize in the “Challenge Cup” Hubei Provincial Competition!

On May 27-28, the finals of the 14th “Challenge Cup - Bank of China” Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition of Hubei Province, sponsored by Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, Hubei Association for Science and Technology, Department of Education of Hubei Province, and Hubei Students’ Federation, and hosted by Wuhan Textile University, came to a successful end. The structural light team project of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information won the first prize at the provincial level and will prepare for the national competition.

The Challenge Cup, known as the “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Science and Technology Academic Competition Series, is a national extracurricular academic science and technology entrepreneurship competition for college students co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the All-China Students’ Federation and local provincial governments. Since the first competition in 1989, “Challenge Cup” has always adhered to the purpose of “advocating science, pursuing true knowledge, studying diligently, innovating and meeting challenges”, and played a positive role in promoting the growth of young innovative talents, deepening quality education in colleges and universities, and promoting economic and social development, which has had a wide and good influence in colleges and universities and even in the society, and is known as the “Olympic” event of scientific and technological innovation for contemporary college students.

Since the opening of the “Challenge Cup” this year, this School has attached great importance. From the school competition to the provincial competition, the teachers held multiple project guidance meetings, and each team also actively improved their works and organized mock defenses.

Title: “Decoding Mineral Depths - Research on Multi-lens Structured Light 3D Reconstruction Technology and Its Application in Intelligent Identification of Coal Mine Drilling Robot”

Project content: By addressing the problem of lack of information of traditional 3D camera imaging in harsh environment, the entry project researches on multi-camera structured light 3D reconstruction technology, designs and develops the first generation of four-camera structured light 3D camera prototype, including high-precision multi-camera calibration, stripe coding and decoding, multi-point cloud alignment and other technical fields, and integrates digital image processing, precision manufacturing, 3D vision and other related disciplines to achieve high-precision reconstruction and positioning of the object to be measured, and to promote the development of industrial automation and drilling automation technology.
