Personal Profile

Chen Xiaoli, female, associate professor, master supervisor, Visiting Researcher of Bournemouth University, UK, Certified User Research Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, graduated from Wuhan University of Technology with master’s degree in design and arts, and is now studying for the doctorate in China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). She had leant from Shimizu Yoshiharu and other senior industrial designers in TANITA Corporation and received professional training in “International Art Research Institute”. In 2016, she participated in an international collaborative project to conduct research on the behavior of elderly users at Bournemouth University, UK, for 18 months. The main research interests are ergonomics, user experience research and emotional design research.

In 2022, her team won the gold medal in Hubei Province in the China Universities Industrial Design Competition; in 2021, she won the "European Design Oscar –A’design Award" (an international competition recognized by ICOGRADA and BEDA); in 2020, she won the National Silver Award in the High-end Equipment Innovation Design Competition; in 2019, she won the Silver Award in the Yellow Crane Cup Industrial Design Competition, and the design work "The World's First Cement Postcard" appeared at the 2019 World Philatelic Exhibition in China, and was reported by many mainstream media such as Xinhua News Agency; in 2018, she won Gold Medal in RoboWork; in 2016, Pocket wallet, a design work of instructed student, won GD (good design award) design award.In 2014, she won the excellent guide teacher award of China Industrial Design Competition (Hubei Area) and has won many heavyweight awards in Red Dot, IF and various national industrial design competitions. She has been in charge of one teaching program of the Ministry of Education, two programs supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for Outstanding Youth in Central Universities and 3 school-level teaching programs, participated in 3 provincial and ministry-level programs and National Social Science Fund, published one academic monograph and several papers in Nanjing University retrieval journals as the first author, and has been granted 15 invention patents and more than 30 utility model patents.
