PhD, professor, doctoral supervisor, Deputy Dean of Gemological Institute, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), executive director of Hubei Jewelry Engineering Technology Research Center, Director of Jewelry Advanced Manufacturing Institute, Hubei High-level Expert, “Industry Professor” of Hubei Province, and “Leader of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team”. He has led and participated in over 3 million pounds of research projects (including two large EU projects) funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation, the Science and Technology Development Agency, the Royal Engineering Society, the European Union and companies such as Airbus Simpleware, as well as two general programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China, one international collaborative exchange project and three enterprise-funded projects in the field of advanced manufacturing. He has published more than 100 papers in foreign and domestic core journals and important conferences, including 5 highly cited papers, has been granted 12 invention patents, and has written 2 academic books in English related to his research fields.

The Hubei Jewelry Engineering Technology Center under the charge of Prof. Hao is an interdisciplinary and cross-school provincial innovation platform, which is oriented to the needs of high-tech fields and national industries and characterized by the research on processing technology and testing engineering technology of precious metals and precious stones. It has the Institute of Functional Materials, the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing, and the Institute of Testing Technology. Team members have their own strengths in precious metal materials, additive manufacturing, structural design, topology optimization, diamond preparation, detection technology and other fields. At present, the interdisciplinary research fields include precious metal materials, jewelry, wearable technology, geological engineering, renewable energy and bioengineering.
