The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated: "We must adhere to the idea that science and technology constitute primary productive forces, talent is the primary resource, and innovation is the primary driving force. We should thoroughly implement the strategies of rejuvenating the country through science and education, strengthening the country through talent, and driving development through innovation." Universities play an important role in the deep integration of the "innovation chain, talent chain, capital chain, and industry chain." They should undertake the mission of talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, social services, and cultural inheritance and innovation in the new era, providing strong support and guarantees for the development of new productive forces. At the same time, they should actively adapt to the development needs of new productive forces, continuously deepen the comprehensive reform of education, science, and technology talents, and provide powerful driving forces for modernization construction.

To continuously enhance the teaching ability of young teachers and solidify the basic skills of teaching, the annual young teachers' teaching competition was held in Room A0210 of the Teaching Complex Building as scheduled on the afternoon of April 18th. In this competition, one young teacher representative from each department participated, and Professor Wu Guoping, a teaching supervisor from the university, as well as Professors Li Li and Wang Wen from the college, were invited to provide guidance. The judging panel consisted of Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee, Wu Di, along with four professional teachers and supervisors from both the university and the college. Representatives from grassroots teaching organizations of the college and student representatives attended the competition, which was chaired by Associate Dean Li Bo.

Firstly, the four young teachers demonstrated their unique strengths in classroom teaching by focusing on teaching objectives, solid teaching skills, and distinctive teaching styles. Mr. Zhang Jing from the Department of Electronic Information delivered a wonderful lecture on the principles of lasers and laser devices in "Information Optoelectronic Technology," using simple and understandable language along with dynamic graphics to deepen students' understanding of the course content. Mr. Song Chaolong from the Department of Mechanical Engineering introduced the steady-state heat conduction problem in "Engineering Heat Transfer" using the metaphor of "national treasures," presenting a logically rigorous and progressively layered explanation of core theories and formula derivation, providing students with a deep learning experience. Ms. Xu Jie from the Industrial Design Department showcased relevant content on visual dynamics in the "Basic Design" course, vividly analyzing through product examples, deepening students' understanding and thinking of the course content. Ms. Zhou Qunqun from the Department of Communication explained the working principle of the MBE vocoder model in the "Speech Signal Processing Course" in detail, addressing students' difficult problems through practical data and case analysis.

The expert judges interacted with the participating teachers in real-time, fully affirming their performance in teaching. They unanimously agreed that the participating teachers highlighted teaching characteristics and objectives in their classroom demonstrations. At the same time, they provided guiding suggestions for each teacher's areas of attention and improvement, achieving the purpose of "promoting teaching through competition and promoting learning through competition."

Professor Li Li, a teaching supervisor from the college, delivered a summary and evaluation. He fully affirmed the teaching performance of the participating teachers, praising the wonderful design of teaching content, innovative and practical teaching methods, positive teaching attitude, and solid and comprehensive professional knowledge. He also made three suggestions based on the characteristics of the competition: First, in terms of content depth, it is recommended that teachers should reasonably grasp the balance between depth and simplicity, ensuring theoretical depth while being understandable for students. Second, in terms of teaching methods, teachers are required to maintain a good mental state throughout the competition, proficiently grasp the content of the PPT and naturally apply it during the lecture. Third, in terms of board writing requirements, participants are reminded to ensure that the board writing during the competition is concise and reasonable in language, clear and orderly in layout, vivid and imaginative in graphics and text, able to guide and complement the teaching PPT.

According to the judges' scores, in the 2024 annual young teachers' teaching competition of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Ms. Xu Jie and Mr. Zhang Jing won the first prize, while Mr. Song Chaolong and Ms. Zhou Qunqun won the second prize.
