(Reported by Li Shuangfeng) In order to further improve our students’ awareness of anti-fraud and fraud prevention, effectively implement safety education and prevent and reduce the occurrence of telecommunications fraud, on the morning of May 27, a special lecture on the prevention of telecommunications fraud was held at Room 301 of No. 2 Teaching Building. Officer Wang Dong from Luojiashan Police Station shared the topic of fraud prevention, and a total of 146 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Grade 2022 attended the lecture.

Officer Wang Dong shared his views on student dormitory safety, theft prevention in campus public places, types of frauds and prevention. He emphasized the safety of student dormitories and reminded students that the "lock" on the door is indispensable, but the "lock" in their hearts is more important, and they should develop the good habit of keeping door closed to set up the first line of defense for dormitory safety. If it is still found that the dormitory has been stolen, it is necessary to immediately report the case to the public security authorities and the security department of the university, protect the scene, and actively cooperate with relevant work.

Officer Wang Dong analyzed the causes of fraud cases and introduced several fraudulent techniques that students are most likely to fall for, including impersonating customer service and acquaintances, fictitious pornographic services, and faked orders, combined with typical cases of fraud encountered in his own work this year. He warned students to obtain information through formal official platforms, and to adopt different methods to confirm the reliability of information for different situations, and not to lose out on small things and fall into the trap of criminals. Finally, he called on students to actively download the National Anti-Fraud Center APP and complete their real name registration and certification, and never neglect our own safety while emphasizing the completion of our studies in the colorful university life.

At the end of the lecture, Tang Yaxue, an undergraduate student in class 07D22C of Grade 2022, said, “The lecture is very practical and gives me a deeper understanding of how to prevent telecommunications fraud and protect my property and information. I will pass on what I learned today to my friends and relatives to jointly prevent telecommunications fraud”. Wu Yuliang, a graduate student of Grade 2022, said, “Many similar fraud cases are actually around us, but often we don’t pay much attention or take them seriously, and we always feel that we can’t be deceived. However, it is this mentality of luck and blind confidence that leads to many people being deceived. So, combining with the lecture delivered by Officer Wang, we must strengthen the usual study of anti fraud knowledge and improve our awareness of anti fraud, to kill the telecommunications fraud in the cradle.

This lecture helped students better understand the characteristics, skills and trick and means of modern telecommunications fraud, improved their awareness of security and their ability to prevent fraud, and effectively built a “line of defense” for campus security.
