An Academic Report Delivered by Professor Zhan Zhihui from South China University of Technology

In order to promote the first-class undergraduate construction of electronic information engineering based on “Double First-class Program”, improve the construction level of information and communication engineering discipline, and broaden the students’ academic vision, our School invited the professor from the School of Computer Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology to give a report entitled “Research on the Evolutionary Computation for Multi-peak Optimization” on December 10, 2021. The teachers and graduate students of our School attended the seminar.


 

 

Zhan Zhihui, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Computer Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology, has won Wu Wen Jun AI Outstanding Youth Award and IEEE-CIS Global Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, and serves as the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computing (SCI, IF=11.169), a leading international academic journal in evolutionary computation. His main research fields include artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation and swarm intelligence. In recent years, he has made a series of innovative achievements in adaptive control, global search, multi-population cooperation, distributed processing and application expansion of evolutionary computation, and has also proposed several new evolutionary computation methods for complex optimization problems such as large-scale optimization, dynamic optimization, multi-peak optimization, multi-objective optimization, constraint optimization and expensive optimization. In addition, he has made application research on smart city and smart medical.


 

The report introduced the research of evolutionary computation in solving multi-peak complex optimization problems, including a variety of efficient evolutionary multi-peak optimization algorithms proposed in recent years from multi-population division, adaptive control, multi-strategy cooperation and distributed processing. The high-efficiency multi-peak optimization evolutionary computation method introduced in his report will provide an important way to solve modern super complex optimization problems and promote the new development of artificial intelligence.
